What to Expect from your Sentricon* Colony Elimination System

Monitoring stations are placed approximately 8-feet apart around the outside perimeter of the house. Initially the stations contain wood monitoring devices. The stations are checked regularly by the technicians at approximately one month intervals.

Termites can't smell or see the bait but due to their random foraging they "stumble" upon it. If there are termites on the property, on the average it takes approximately 2 months for the termites to find and feed on the monitoring devices.

Once the technician finds a sufficient number of termites in the wood monitoring device(s) he transfers these termites into the bait tube and reinserts the bait into the monitoring station. Termites consuming the bait are using it not only for their own food source, but are also taking it back to the colony to feed their nestmates. These active stations are checked at intervals of approximately 10 days.

The bait is a slow acting insect growth regulator that prevents the termites from molting. When the termites are unable to molt they die off. The time between molts are influenced by a number of factors and can vary tremendously. Since the bait only kills the termites when they try to molt, the time to eliminate a colony will vary tremendously.

If you should have an active termite infestation within your structure, the termites will continue to forage and feed normally until the colony is eliminated. For active infestations some type of supplemental treatment is advisable until the bait takes affect.

Termites are territorial. Multiple termite colonies will not coexist. Once a colony is eliminated, this opens the door for another colony to move in. We therefore return to the monitoring mode for your continued protection.
